Hegarty Fellow Stacy Clifford Simplican defines a new model of social inclusion

Dr. Stacy Clifford Simplican, a Hegarty Fellow who is co-located between Michigan State University and NUI Galway has published an article in the respected journal 'Research in Developmental Disabilities'

In this article, Dr Clifford Simplican states that a major obstacle for achieving social inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities is that the concept of social inclusion in unclear. She defines a new model of social inclusion as 'the interaction between two major life domains: interpersonal relationships and community participation' and identifies areas where research and interventions can move forwward, drawing on this new model.
